Biography

Lisa Batacchi, Italian-American artis, born in Firenze in 1980. With an educational backround in fashion design and a major in knitwear at the Polimoda Institute, she works for few years as designer with various companies, most significant experience Vivienne Westwood Ltd. in London (2003-2004). At that time, after a trip to Cambodia, she decides to devote herself entirely to projects that privilege the relationship and the social value within the artistic experience. She later studies painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Firenze and participates to workshops held by Tania Ostojic, Belgrade (2007), Grzegorz Kowalski, XIV International Sculpture Biennale of Carrara (2010), Liliana Moro, Summer Academy, Salzburg (2010) and residences as ‘Encounters Eèa’, Ponza (2013), ‘How we want to live’ with Lu Cafausu, Free Home University, Castiglione d’Otranto (2014). Her creative practice unfolds between stories where the private becomes public and vice versa going from drawing, video, photography, performances, public art interventions and collective investigations. Recently involved in projects with Siena Art Intitute, Villa Romana (Firenze), Villa Pacchiani (Pisa), Estate Fiorentina and the mac n(Monsummano Terme) and was one of the winners of "Movin’ Up" which will promote her residency in Bombay at Clark house Initiatives (2015). In parallel from 2012 she runs SomethingLikeThis, an artist run space in Firenze where she researches dialogue and interaction with several personalities similar by coincidences of ideals and values.
