Biography

Gianni Antenucci (Prato, 1971)

He conducted his technical studies as he was developing his first artistic interest, which he has been doing especially since 1987. In 1992, having finished his studies, he began a comprehensive specific training at the Art Institute of his town, which he attended until 1995. Under the aegis of Alkafaij Resmi as to drawing and painting and that of Anna Sanesi as to engraving, he soon found his first defined style in these modes of expression. Sanesi, who had been one of Rosai’s pupils, related him through genealogy to an authentic Tuscan taste. Within this heritage, he used the Florentine experiences of the fifties and sixties and chose the matter as his primary interest, dedicating his first solo exhibition to it (La materia come testimone del nostro essere – The matter as a witness of our being –, Prato, Palazzo Datini, 1998). In that period, the theme of nature became increasingly clear, and he developed it in an original way. Over the fifteen years after his debut, he held exhibitions in various venues, including Villa Montalvo in Florence, the Art Gallery of Pisa, Artexpo New York, the Lato Gallery of Prato, the Cultural Centre Il punto d’incontro of Cecina (LI), and the Cultural Association Il circolo degli artisti in Albissola Marina (SV).
Recent years saw his new creative season, whose works have been shown in significant exhibitions. In March 2013, an exhibition of his works was held at the Auditorium of the Centre of Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci in Prato, with the partnership of Association APARTE (Pecci Art Association), Marcello Carriero introduced his works. A few months later, in October, he held a solo exhibition curated by Giuseppe Billi and Mariano Apa at the Museum of Archaeology and Art of Grosseto. In 2014 he held another important solo exhibition, Frozen vision, at the Marino Marini Foundation in Pistoia (13 September - 11 October 2014), curated by Bianca Pedace. He holds the solo exhibition DNA, curated by Valentino Ulivi, and whose introductory text was written by Sandro Parmiggiani (Genova, Ghiglione Gallery, Palazzo Doria, May 2015). Since March 2015 he has been member of the Board of APARTE (Pecci Art Association), whose purpose is, by charter, to “promote modern and contemporary art together with Centre Pecci in Prato.
Among others, Franco Riccomini, Marcello Carriero, Mariano Apa, Giuseppe Billi, Sandro Parmiggiani and Bianca Pedace.
