Biography

Amy Thomas and Oliver Irvine work in collaboration to create theatrical environments
that play on a juxtaposition of imagined and real worlds: the natural and the pre
fabricated.
Their installations, like the imagination, have no boundaries. Viewer becomes artist, artist
becomes viewer. Their environments seep out of their boundaries and requires the
embodiment of both the subconscious mind and the surrounding space.
Their work explore unorthodox, fanciful issues, in politics, psychology
and in nature, and incorporate ideas around belief systems, communication, broken
cycles, control, fate and possibility. Their environments aim to provoke a sense of unease
in the imagination, but at the same time this approached with a lightness of touch to
incorporate the viewer, allowing space for personal contemplation.
