Biography

Biographical Description

Having always been interested in art and design I returned to school and completed Fine Arts degree from University of Manitoba. Before re-entering school I was a furniture designer with works inspired by the modernist paintings of Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky.

In 2009 I have exhibited my photos at the Blankstein Gallery in Winnipeg Canada at the Millennium Library entitled "The Moment" .

Artists Statement

Black and white photographs retain an undisclosed element or mystery. Portraying the images in black and white imbues the images a meaning behind the immediate surfaces. More thatn just a snapshot my goal is for the viewer to relate to the emotional context of the moment the photograph was taken and for the viewer to interpret the story and the feelings a that moment. To acheive a "I have been there" instance.

Each image also encodes a study of light and darkness. “It’s a medium I prefer – one that creates a more subdued mystery that contrributes to the mood of the photograph. I try to create an emotional moment image that seems frozen at first is alive with concentration, anticipation and suspicion.
