Biography
Drawings and experimental techniques, mixing painting and installation elements, are the main media used in his personal research, which is focused on the strength, limits and nature of different kinds of organisms.
Born in 1978 in Perugia (Italy), he moved to Bologna in 1997 to study at the Academy of Fine Arts where he received a degree in Decoration in 2005.
In 2003 he moved to Milan upon receiving a grant to continue his studies at the Italian Institute of Photography.

In 2007, Gianni moved to New York City thanks to an artist-in-residence grant from the Harlem Studio Fellowship by Montrasio Arte.
In 2008, he designed the set and costumes for Il volo (an)negato at the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Arts in Milan.
In 2009 Gianni Moretti lived in Seoul (South Korea) thanks to an artist-in-residence grant from the Mongin Art Center.
