Biography

Fanni Fazekas, the creator of this project, grew up in Hungary, has studied art since 1991 and has been living in Bolzano.
Having noticed that opportunities for artists coming from countries that are new additions to the European Community is somewhat lacking in Bolzano, Fanni decided to into this matter by developing the idea of presenting works by contemporary Hungarian artists to Bolzano.
The name of the exhibition ‘BoH’ is the trademark for this event and others to come, symbolizing the same concept behind each project: artists that are different from each other. Their language, culture and therefore works are different. In this exhibition, the artists are Hungarian and either live in Hungary or abroad. Amongst the works being shown are those by Hungarians that belong to a minority group living beyond their national border without their citizenship, but who claim to be Hungarians.
The title ‘BoH’ derives from two different meanings. Firstly that of the simple, fun construction of the initials of the two words Bolzano and Hungary that reinforces the joining of these two localities for this exhibition. This interacts well with the second meaning: the expression ‘boh!’, used frequently by local citizens, meaning ‘I don’t know!’ or ‘Who knows!’. This allows the content of the exhibition to remain unidentifiable and therefore totally open.
