Biography
Vardit Gross has been the Director of Artport Tel Aviv since June 2013, and previously was the Associate Director of Artis for six years. She is a leading writer about contemporary art in Israel as the art columnist of Yedioth Aharonot since 2008, and as a contributor to ArtReview, Flashart, Tablet Magazine, and others. As a curator, she worked for over five years at Creative Time in New York, revitalizing the city’s streets with the works of artists such as Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Zang Huan and Jenny Holzer. Some of her independent curatorial projects include "Plaster" benefit exhibition for Physicians for Human Rights in Israel and the video show "The Calm Before the Storm" at the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow, which was an Artforum's Criticpicks in March 2010. Vardit earned a bachelor’s degree in law and philosophy from Tel Aviv University, and a Masters degree in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
