Biography
Massimo Casagrande
Active in the artistic and cultural scene since 1995, he has exhibited in more than a hundred among group and one-man famous exhibitions. He has exhibited in Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium and United States. In the panorama of the Venetian informal art he is considered one of the most original and convincing personalities.
For some years, besides the “informal” works, the artist has followed a conceptual countermelody, intimate and meditated. His new works entitled “Operations” have aroused a particular interest at the XIII edition of Arte Padova this year. They bring to the audience a reflection on the actual condition we are living in. They are works where a sort of intellectual surgery takes place, where the opening of the sores corresponds to opening our own gloom to the requests of the world, and where the attempt of sewing is again a declaration of will, an exposure of the desire which is asking to be recognized.
The artist himself states: “I claim that these “Operations”, which are called by many “Injuries” -but they are not-, are a springboard, a means to reach further perceptions. By saying that I don’t mean that in this cycle the image mustn’t be considered as a pretext whose role is restricted at sustaining the plastic elements, and therefore to bringing the audience in front of an epigraphic vision, but it must be observed as a possible salvation.”
Secondary school “Luigi Pierobon” in Cittadella has recently included the artist in the study programme of the artistic heritage of Padua, the Venetian region and Italy.
The following art critics and experts have been showing interest in his work: Dr. Paolo Rizzi, Dr. Giorgio Segato, Dr. Lucia Majer, Prof. Gian Ruggero Manzoni, Prof. Miguel Angel Cuevas, Prof. Dr. Hans Felten, Dr. Alejandro Luque, Prof. Gaetano Salerno, Prof. Giacomo Malatrasi, Prof. Giovanni Miraglia, Prof. Ruggero Sicurelli.
Since 2010 he has been exclusive for Italy with Cavana Arte Contemporanea in La Spezia.
