Biography
GIACOMO DERIU
He is born in Oristano, Sardinia. Currently lives and works
between Bologna and Berlin.
He holds a degree in arts, received in 2002 from “Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna”,
where has studied painture and graphic.
Since 1998 he works as a freelance graphic designer, specialized in 3d graphic,
postproduction and interactive application programming. During the same period he
has made practice within the electronic and mechanic field.
These experiences led him to the decision of applying the knowledge acquired, to his
artistic researches. Right in this field, because of the many possibility given by the
digital technology, he started developing a lot of artworks, like interactive visual
applications and installations, videos and printed graphics.
In 2008, won the "Premio Celeste" (a prestigious competition that
promotes contemporary art in Italy) with the interactive installation
"Presente del Verbo Essere," realized in collaboration with Lara
Mezzapelle.
He is now developing with the collaboration of Lara Mezzapelle a personal exposition
in Rome and a project for the Istanbul ‘s biennale of Arts.
