Biography
My recent paintings are dealing a lot with the original subject of figure in space. They re sometimes based on paintings of old masters like Poussin, Gericault or Tizian or on pictures in magazines with interesting people making interesting gestures or on self made pictures. I like to put things, mainly figures, out of their usual environment and confront them with for example a fantasy or science fiction kind of landscape or an almost abstract setting. I paint my works in several layers, each one of them being almost equally important and so they're all still visible owning different levels of reality or abstraction.
Also the figures themself become modified a lot during the process of the work, which I hardly plan, but mainly let happen.
You could say they somehow are changed by their their surrounding but equally are able to change their surroundings themselves in a way..
