Biography
I was born in Florence in 1981, with the passage at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, after a year of hard research, I realized that I should not ignore the trials of my childhood and indeed, I had to rediscover them. Since 2001, in fact, I developed a deep research on the relationship between content-container which winds around the relationship between works of art and body and between body and nature, "playing" with the most diverse objects, which I put in wooden boxes and with images to which I overlap other images through the transparency of organza. The strong three-dimensionality strengthens the relationship between content and container, the veil of organza images and figures that appear to overlap and establishing a dialogue with the objects. The veil of organza is a dress, a skin protection, a thin border, and an osmosis membrane that connects the various parts. The veil of organza is a dress for a work of art and it gives it voice, appearance and an always different identity, through the images that are made on it, this should not be regarded as a mere stand it, but as a crucial means of expression that contributes to the meaning of the work. A veil that shows and says something different, but at the same time requires an impetus to the observers who want to discover what is behind it. At the same time this area of research has led me to expand my projects and to support the realization of three-dimensional works: performances, installations and video installations that combine with the latter even sounds and video projections.
The video has allowed me to overcome the concept of real container present in my work, becoming a virtual container (the video itself), in which the pictures are running smooth, elastic, buttons, full of life, light and translucent, thus maintaining the most typical aspects of my work. In this dialectic between container-contained, veil-work of art, dress-body fits the theme of presence and absence of the body.
