Biography
My works investigate passing of time and mechanisms of visions. Form the mosaical surfaces of the first paintings now the research is moving towards the exploration of new materials and new formal displaying for his works.
In fact, my last works consists in a series of plush blankets and shaggy carpets I shave off (either with scissors or with electrical hair-clipper) so that a relief, a "furry silhouette", would come out.
This shape is the "image", if the blanket is monochrome, or it interacts with the original subject the blanket comes with to create a new visual pattern.
The slowly act of cutting off, of shaving, becomes a progressive revealing of a sort of inner form, which transforms perceptual vision in a wholly, intimate and tactile vibe.
The aim is that of exploring a sort of mystical materialism that links memory and dreams, that is, the reassuring and the disturbing.
I think of my works as candid icons in changelling and uncertain times.
They can also be seen as ironic quotations of the latest visual trend of our virtual era: transforming 2D in 3D. Where 3D (and high-definition) in today's movies is supposed to enahnce vision and physical presence, my works present such tecnique as low-definition oriented, as silent and wide-eyed reification of memories and feelings.
