Biography
Maria Teresa Ponce is a photographer and artist based in Quito, Ecuador. She has participated in several national and international exhibitions including the Havana Biennial (Cuba), S-Files in Museo del Barrio (NY), Buenos Aires Photo (Argentina), New Langton Arts (San Francisco), Valoarte (Costa Rica) , Cuenca International Biennial (Ecuador), and Canal Isabel II (Madrid, Spain). Her work is part of several public and private collections including Museo del Barrio, Queens Museum of Art, Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA), Argentina. Ponce´s work is included in several book publications including “Don’t Know/Refused. Contemporary Photographic Practices from Latin America”, edited by Rodrigo Alonso, as well as mentioned in international reviews including The New York Times and Arte Al Dia International Magazine of Contemporary Art. Ponce is currently the Coordinator and full-time professor of the University of San Francisco of Quito Photography Department.
