Biography

Born in Solothurn, Switzerland, in 1959, Gianni Tarli moved to Italy in his adolescence.
In the final years of his secondary school education, he lived in Cattolica, for practical reasons. There he began to frequent the environment and the artists with whom he could explore the expressive possibilities and
components of his subjects.
By the end of the 1980's, his artistic quest was freed of material weight and evolving towards the elaboration of fluid surfaces, with fresh and innovative techniques.
1996 represented an artistic turning point. The fluid emotions developed into a neo-expressionist abstract form in which he found his own distinctive style. He took part in the Bologna Art Fair (1996), the Premio Roma for Artists (2000), the Art Fair of Bari and of Parma (2000), the Biannual International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Florence (2001), and he presented solo exhibits in different cities in Italy and Europe.
A meeting with the director and friend Flavio Sciolè convinced him to explore other frames of reference, with interesting interpretive results. Artistic video documentation as evidence of a process still underway. www.giannitarli.it www.artegalleria.net
