Biography

Her engravings are made on special leaf of foil called “grattage”, a difficult technique that does not allows any mistake. Every line must be extremely precise as corrections are not possible. At the first error all the work has to be thrown away and restared on a new grattage or a leaf of gold or metal.
This is why Elisabetta’s work is so remarkable. In addition to the fantasy of the design and the interlacement of opposite and clashing elements, there is a vigorous and careful visual impact. All this in an independent
stylistic register, a sensuous and enigmatic dimension and unresolved embarrassment: a swirl in an unreal world an eros that, even in the embrace, boasts ambiguity and which seems to merge more with Thanatos –death - than with passion. Finally these engravings have an attractive gracefulness of the lines where everything is allowed and shades off in a harmonic vision.
