Biography
The Landscape Series has evolved out of several years of creating digitally manipulated photographs. It moves between the two and three dimensional, from a photograph to the model sized tableaux.
Concocted and constructed from jelly babies and earth, trees and charcoal, toy cars and pieces of rusting metal, the work that is forming the Landscape Series is neither describing a natural harmonious Earth nor allaying the fear that the landscape which currently nurtures will change beyond recognition. These photographs and tableaux evoke a fantastical sometimes frightening atmosphere. These are imitations of our world, perhaps a future world, where all that you desire is never enough.
The traditional European Landscape Painting of rural idyll with a recipe for clouds and chosen colours for the foreground and background exists only as reminder of the radical changes that have taken place not only in art but in the landscape itself.
