Maria Colom's work aims to offer an experience to the viewer.
She has developed an extensive body of work experimenting with different compositions and techniques to engage the viewer with the work. She aims to give the viewer a physical experience sometimes via the size of the paintings, sometimes via the materiality of the work or via perspective tricks and installations.
Her figures are there to provoque psychological responses that we experience in the real world such as failure or success, isolation, adulation, joy, desperation...
