CRUMPLED CANVASES
The characteristics in the paintings are canvases that are draped according to the needs of three-dimensional images. The purpose of the work is to achieve three-dimensional images of labyrinths, depth, light and shadows, so that the observer sees the entire composition out of its reality creating a “pseudo” realistic effect.
While creating her paintings, Fernanda does not follow a fixed method. The figures in her paintings come out from the draped cloth itself. Once the draped cloth is applied, she paints whatever she envisions in her mind.
Her art reflects the influence of the artists she loves most: Rousseau, Magritte, Rivera, Frida Kalho and the Amerinda art starting from the Toltechi onwards, including Asian art. It’s an art connected to the social realism typical of Mexican art, mixed with surrealism and the illusionism of Magritte.
