Biography
Maria Rondeau (USA/Guatemala,1971) is a practicing architect and artist based in Cambridge, MA and La Antigua, Guatemala. Maria graduated from the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation at Columbia University in 1996, and for twenty years has been involved in experimental architecture practices such as mOrphosis, office dA and Monica Ponce de Leon Studio. Interested in multi-disciplinary collaborations, she has developed a series of topographic and audio-visual productions where she plays out the inter-relationship between space, place, and image. Since 2008, Maria has taught at the School of Architecture of the Rhode Island School of Design as a Visiting Faculty member leading Advanced Studios and as Thesis Advisor, and more recently, she is Visiting Faculty at MassArt. Her interest in personal and public spaces as individually-constructed environments continues to be explored through experimental videos and installations.
