Biography

The subject of my work is "Picturing America".
It is the pictorial representation of the country that I am living and working in since six years after moving from Germany.
Spanning from outdoor sculptures, installations to paintings, the geometrical forms of the triangle and diamond shape are composed
to create new objects. In doing so, I play with what I see as typical American. This includes e.g., the geometric shape of the rhombus.
The rhombus shape, is ubiquitous and mostly used in road traffic environment. However, the juxtaposition of rhombuses is also
found in the very American architecture, e.g., in window elements or in duct covers. Another omnipresent element is the
five-pointed star. Just think of the symbols representing the states in the American flag. Through a slightly transparent paint
application and a layering of elements such as drops, dollars, stripes, star shapes, a dot grid and a diamond background, I examine
the complexity of the American economy and politics, its communication and dreams, the different layers of gray of everyday life.
