Biography

Simone Monsi (b. 1988, Italy) is a YIBA Young Internet-Based Artist and in his work he investigates the sensitivity of youth culture and its representation on microblogging platforms, from which he takes viral images and contents. In his practice, blogging becomes a method for indexing dynamic collections of popular melancholic sentences, video stills from Evangelion and post-porn gifs, while sculpture, installation and social networks are parts of a broader process that makes his works become memes themselves, once reposted online. He recently graduated from the MFA Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London.

Recent exhibitions and projects include Cyphoria, curated by Domenico Quaranta (16th Art Quadriennale, Rome), We’re Having a Great Time :) (ROCKELMANN &, Berlin), Like Mops on the Beach (Green Ray, London), Feeling The Walls (The Breeder, Athens).
