Culla Contemporary residency
Workshop, Spain, Castellon, Castelló de la Plana, 27 February 2017
Skills: Exhibition space
The purpose of Culla Contemporánea residence was to create and present an artwork that became part of the collections of the Museum of Art in Culla, Castellón, Spain. Residency was held in Coll Blanc Espai D'Art Gallery in Culla, Castellón, from February to March 2017.

Katarína Balúnová (* 1982) graduated from Faculty of Arts Technical University of Kosice, currently in postgraduate studies at the Academy of Art in Banská Bystrica, has created two paintings in which reflects Culla city not only as a physical space but also its symbolic and psychological value. She works with urban forms that reflect the social and historical site structure. Both works, the City Cemetery - Cradle and the City Cemetery - Tomb, refer to birth and death and communicate with each other through the invisible line of life that takes place between these two points. Cemetery reminds not only the past, but also people who have been directly involved in creating the history of the place.

The artistic residence was an individual mobility that aimed to promote young contemporary art not only to the professional but also to the wider public, thereby enhancing cultural awareness throughout the region.

Residence was supported from public sources by the Arts Support Fund of Slovakia.
