The event will be held in Milazzo (ME) on days ranging from 30 May to 2 June 2014, reached its sixth year of life, to help the world's poorest children through UNICEF, and at the same time keep alive the memory by Roberta Smedili died at age 23 of an aneurysm aorta.
This edition also like its predecessors will be housed in the glass room Flagstones of the Municipality of Milazzo.
DETAILS OF THE PROJECT:
With over 140 million people, Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
Widespread poverty in exposure to cyclical natural disasters, such as floods caused by seasonal monsoon rains, make the critical plight of children, especially when poverty and degradation deprive them of the protection family.
Street children are among the most vulnerable, and the entity of their number is a reflection of the social problems facing the country: overpopulation, illiteracy and poverty.
UNICEF estimates that more than 300,000 children living and growing on the margins of society, abandoned and in absolute misery, often without protection and education, free treatment and care of families.
What does UNICEF
Through the project ARISE (Appropriate Resources for Improving Street Children's Environment), UNICEF provides a path of social reintegration for children living in the streets of the main cities of Bangladesh, by means of informal education and vocational training, mainly carried out in schools Centres where children are temporarily housed in schools or outdoors.
The goal is to promote the school reintegration of younger children and the start of the biggest activities decent working and not at risk.
The interventions are concentrated in cities where there is a greater presence of street children, especially the capital Dhaka and other urban centers such as Chittagong district and Baribal.
The primary beneficiaries of the project are 3,500 street children between 6 and 18 years, were selected from among those at highest risk.
Specific interventions include:
Support for formal education programs, implemented through centers for street children and school activities outdoors, focusing on teaching adapted to the specific needs of street children.
Educational programs include the so-called life skills (practical information and skills needed to prevent the risk of street life) methodologies using peer to peer, that is based on the transmission of knowledge among peers.
Reintegration of younger children in the school circuit and formal classification of the largest (12-18 years) in training at work (crafts, sewing, agriculture and farming, mechanics, carpentry, etc..) To provide them with alternative sources of income that them to shun jobs at risk.
Some children will be given a professional kit or starting a micro-credit to promote the work of their own.
Psychological care for trauma in the street.
Among the methods used are expected to role play and recreational activities for the simplest cases, while more serious cases will be directed to experts or specialized facilities.
Medical care, HIV / AIDS prevention, food assistance, legal support of registration and temporary reception centers for street children in - transit centers, other than orphanages - with a view to their reintegration into the family and / or community.
Awareness campaigns in the communities to counter the phenomena of violence and discrimination against street children.
Cooperation with NGO partners and public institutions will contribute to enhancing the capacity to intervene and ensure the sustainability of the results achieved by the project.
What will we do to help
Will set up a group exhibition that will directly involve all participating artists, which will give them a painting that will be put on sale with a minimum bid, much lower than the real value of the painting, to allow collectors, art lovers and individual citizens , present at the event, to win, one of the works in the catalog, certainly of great value.
All proceeds will finance the project "School and protection for street children" in Bangladesh that the Provincial Committee Unicef of Messina, and the Association Roberta Smedili have adopted for their business for the year 2014.
