Plans for a work of art in the National Library
In 2015 the National Library celebrated with an exhibition, the 50 years since the beginning of the construction of the headquarters of Castro Pretorio and yet 40 years after its inauguration (1975). On this occasion we were also valued the numerous works of art in the library: in fact, in the early seventies were installed in the gardens seven travertine sculptures and lava stone and four metal; in the interior a large metal sculpture, three tapestries and two paintings, works that were made by some of the most important contemporary artists: Aldo Caron, Silvio Olivio, Pietro Consagra, Oreste Dequel, Luigi Venturini, Franco Cannilla, Ariosto Trinchera, Xavier D 'Eugene, Charles Carchietti, Augusto Vanarelli, Osvaldo Calo, Raul Vistoli, Afro Basaldella, Capogrossi, Anna Romano.
At the conclusion of the celebrations, in 2016, was banned art contest Library: a work for the art collection of the National Library of Rome, for the realization and the acquisition by the Library of a new work d ' art. The competition was open to young artists invited to create a new work in dialogue with those of the seventies, also in order to emphasize and enhance the nature of the Institute as a multifunctional active place of study, design, promotion of cultural and artistic development.
