Udine - Rotterdam . Passing through London, Paris, Valencia. Final destination: Pavia di Udine.
It sounds unusual but for the last 4 years, in the village of the villas and of the little factories, the contemporary art has been an alive and kicking strength that not only attracts an increasingly important public, but also recalls those children that moved far away from their native country. Painters and brains that emigrates not only from Friuli, but from Italy too. That Italy the exponents of Futurismo used to define - 100 years ago - " p a s s a t i s t a" (i.e. “past-oriented”). A definition more realistic than ever, we would dare to think, if we consider the regional cultural change that has weakened the various contemporary espression forms.
And so, in such a scenery, Etrarte is the alternative. Indipendent and direct, actual (and unic) creative movement in the region that, with a constant flux, year after year, has conquered, involved and convinced its public. In times of crisis, there’s the need to change air and Etrarte with this new artistic happening brings the new air, brings the oxygen as a fluid giving consistency to the artistic quality of our life. To repatriate the painters escaped abroad and to make the new edition of Sticeboris an open workshop, are some of the aims of the "bridge-project " artist - public - territory that the association has always proposed to itself. O2(f) “Ossigeno friulano” (i.e. Oxygen of Friuli) is the subject of the 4th edition of Sticeboris, a special edition that counts the participation of 16 promising artists together with the regional most important names, whose talent and skill have been acknowledged in the last years, both at national and international levels.
As witnessed by the presence of Micky Modo & Spire , Udine - Los Angeles - London. In the last September, they went beyond 22thousands candidates for the International Photography Awards of Los Angeles, earning the 2nd prize! Their “Ossigeno friulano” is going to be a photo-graphic installation purposely created for the exhibition; furthermore in the new showroom of Mobilificio Casabella, they will expose other interesting works.
Straight from a rejoicing Paris, that is celebrating 120 years since the Universal Exposition and the birth of its symbol, the Eiffel Tower, “Ossigeno friulano” is brought by the young photographer Lara Trevisan.
From Rotterdam, Stefano Calligaro, sculptor born in Friuli, will take us to an imaginary “journey in steps” hosted by the web magazine www.udine20.it ; a shot on the contemporary artistic reality abroad, through the direct experience of the emigrated artist.
Moving towards the South of Europe, the exhibition receives Valencia, the town of the projects and artistic experiences of Virginia di Lazzaro – famous "friul-national" artist that now collaborates with workshops promoted by the Gugghenaim of Venice.
From Milan, but born in Friuli, Michele Innocenti and Claudio Cescutti, after several experiences at a national level, are introducing in their native region two different works: video-installation and photo-installation that will occupy the spaces of the “folador”.
Ernesto Canotti, young regional talent, will expose here too and, with his video-installation, directly involve the public.
Monica Passalenti from Udine is introducing some of her figurative engraving works while the group SHOT UP, making its debut, is going to expose photographic works.
Another group in the show, from Gemona, here there are the very young TBC CLIQUE, winners of several prizes for new talents; they experience street art and through their graffito they are going to leave their personal sign.
She lives and works in Trivignano but her expositions move through the whole Europe, from the Russian Biennial to the Palais de Tokio in Paris, Tiziana Pers proposes a project of video and painting works based on the issue of the water as a vital element.
Oneiric and intimate is the world proposed by Laura Pozzar, recently graduated in painting at the Accademia delle Belle Arti of Venice and who in autumn will expose in a collective exhibition in New York .
The Roma-Pordenone axis is led by the group My Favorite Color -Enrico Zanetti and Enrico Marcon – well known videomakers boasting collaborations with famous artists such as Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti and Theo Teardo. The last one, who has recently received a nomination at the David di Donatello for the best soundtrack of the film "La ragazza del Lago", is curing the sound for the project Sticeboris O2(f).
Again from Pordenone, Enzo Comin, young talent who’s likely to become very famous: poet, videomaker, photographer. With this last form of artistic espression, the room of "Maria Zef" will be contaminated by a peculiar installation that will have at its very centre the fire of the fogolar, vital breath for the art, seemingly drowsy. The artist is furthermore going to introduce his first poetic novel "La Magia ha sempre due nomi" (i.e. “The magic has always two names”) on Sunday, the 24th of May.
Here it is Silvia Giusti, besides having exposed at international level, she has been selected for prestigious prizes such as Celeste Prize or Gemine Muse. For “Ossigeno friulano”, her diptych, created ad hoc as all the works in Sticeboris, tackles with provocation the power-machinery that takes off oxygen to art and to new iniziatives.
It’s rich in novelty and emotion this year edition, proper oxygen for contemporary art in Friuli and for the artist, hope and voice of the future. A team of architects - studio Michieli Zanatta and Arch. Paolo Zardo – has been involved too for the staging of the folador, with the extraordinary participation of the sculptress/designer Francesca Ragusa.
