The Municipal Administration of Forte dei Marmi continues its commitment to art exhibitions with the staff of Emanuele Giannelli at the Fortino, where sculptures and installations will be exhibited that embrace the last ten years of the artist's research, realized with different materials, among including eight installations and two large works on the outside of almost five meters in height.
The exhibition and the critical text of the catalog, published by Prearo, are curated by Andrea Barretta, writer and art critic, and the event is followed and organized by Massimo Ferrarotti, president of the Spirale d'idee Association of Milan, and by Maurizio Monticelli.
Emanuele Giannelli has exhibited in Italy with important international experiences and, from his native Rome, has chosen Versilia as his shelter-laboratory to produce visions in the paradox of the future coined by globalization, in contact with the world of great contemporary sculpture, experimenting with materials and techniques with curiosity and manual skills.
The proposal is that of a figurative language that the artist places at the center of his artistic path in a mutant and free anatomy with respect to international languages, since in his sculptures he pursues his own original "genetic" code of the sculptural construction with the creativity of basis in the representation of the universal man, in peculiar expansions that mold in the matter in conceptual quotations and even literary atmospheres. A story about destiny - imagined? - of a silent, alienated humanity, in the communicative power that manages to give with installations that become scenes of a theater with immobile figures but in emotional movements, steady in the instant in which the artist has caught the balance with the message he intends give to the viewer.
The different aesthetic matrices that denote the sculptural plastic approach of the work of Emanuele Giannelli pertain to a feeling closely linked to our cultural heritage that draws roots in the figurativism in a complex challenge and results never unequivocal. Because it has a great technical quality and a competence in the use of materials: from resin to bronze with lost wax casting, always starting from clay sketches.
For this important exhibition by Emanuele Giannelli, the Fortino is also involved in outdoor spaces starting with two sculptures, the "Korf 17" cycle, four and a half meters high, plus the basement, placed at the entrance. His "men", his humanity, in a monumental version with his arms folded and with a sort of glasses for a virtual reality that makes us as spectators as a video in a space that becomes three-dimensional, when we look for their look that goes upwards and we find two screens and two lasers that penetrate the sky. A spectacular exhibition that continues in the six windows of the facade and in the small balcony of the building symbol of Forte dei Marmi, where in each one a "Mr Kiribati" and his peers appear, to welcome visitors coming from Piazza Garibaldi. Instead, from the sea side, on the bastion appear three life-size male figures in an extraordinary installation of "I suspended", in a sort of liquidity as a drama in the void to clarify the precariousness of an existence that binds with a steel wire to the contradiction of a change dominated by technology and by a post-industrial mass society filtered through welder glasses.
