The anglicism establishment is a term for the ruling classes and structures of which they are placed at the head. The idea of structure can often be made with that of political system (or another phrase, in cases of ambiguity): A system that differs from the state as it is a set of interactions, not an organization narrow and constrained .

The term describes elite interests in the various institutions. An establishment may have, among others, purely sociological or political value. Those that do not fit, or hinder their activities, are defined outsider.
