The House of World Cultures in the Province of Milan offers from 17 January to 9 February 2014, the exhibition " From Russia ... with color," of paintings by Olga Polichtchouk , painter originally from St. Petersburg and resident in Italy .
With deep feeling and strong irony , Polichtchouk brings together in his paintings the adult world populated by everyday objects and to dream of childhood, spent in his native Russia. The artist draws inspiration from folk and fairy tales of his homeland and overlaps with scenes of everyday life . In his paintings , the traditional " dachas " ( small wooden houses for the holidays used by the majority of Russian families ) are populated by pets, birds and fish "flying " over the city, with a rich variety of styles and atmospheres and a clever use of colors, now warm and enveloping , now lively and contrasting . Overlay inserts written in Russian nursery rhymes and stories that bring ironic and poetic invented by the artist.
" A light painting , full of color , fun and amusement, supported by a strong and effective gesture which is matched by a rich and intricate construction of the framework , which does not hesitate to treat even the most common places (landscapes and floral motifs ) always striking originality . " (Valentina Carrera ) .
