Seven art book and engravings.

Thursday, September 13 at 19:00, la__linea of Rome, inaugurated the exhibition Seven artist's book and engravings.
The lineaartecontemporanea opens the exhibition season 2012/2013 with an exhibition of the book Seven, a book artist collective designed and created by artists Bentivenga Gianna, Maria Pina Bentivenga, Virginia Carbonelli, Alessandro Furnaces, Laura Peres, Giorgia Pilozzi, Lucia Sforza in , 2012.
In addition to the book will be exhibited seven engravings on Hahnemuhle paper (paper used for the printing of the book consists of 22 units) in the exhibition line via San Martino ai Monti. All matrices were processed by 7 artists and thus are a collective product, and experimental run with various printmaking techniques: soft-ground, etching, drypoint, electric drill, aquatint.
The exhibition, the book Seven and their recordings are the result of a long collective work, which began in the gallery lineartecontemporanea Via San Martino ai Monti with the game Hey you! That's my space! - The settlement of which was written by Giorgia Pilozzi - and then continued in the artist's studio Bentivenga of Nansen via the circulation of works and the construction of the volumes.
The artists have different backgrounds: some have found fertile ground in the engraving of their research, others are used to experiment with additional languages such as painting, photography, drawing and video art. The intent of the initiative, as explained by the regulation was to test a new form of cooperation between artists working in the same field in a creative challenge between instinct and reason. Abolished the doctrine of property, almost a kind of inversion of meaning, the fundamental rule of the game provided the break in the space of others that can and should be captured graphically.
The playful dimension has allowed artists to deal with various techniques (soft-ground, etching, drypoint, electric drill, aquatint) and languages. Albeit to different extents all worked - either directly or indirectly by the Board - the seven plates. Proceeding layers and different baths in acid, the engravers have expressed a formal joint thoughtful attention to a deep respect for the actions of all participants.
The works on display, then "tell" the union of the different stylistic figures. In some prints prevail abstract patterns superimposed over - circular segments, geometric shapes, signs of rain and crossed lines - which are arranged in space evoking memories, internal sounds and atmospheres. In other recordings, however, require diverse figurative elements: totem-man with an eye to the sky, the tree with the next appearance of a bust of antiquity placed in a sort of funny coffee mug and the " horse of the imagination "with their faces covered by a pattern of footprints. Lines that invade the space, black spots that would hide scratches below and suspended dots. Each competitor has been driven by the traces that were previously left by other engravers. The sign of the ego overlaps, crosses and intersects with those of the other, creating variations, never quarrels.
And here "for fun", almost unconsciously, young artists seem to invite the viewer to confront increased lightness with the things of the world. Citing Italo Calvino, "In times when humanity seems condemned to heaviness, I think I should fly like Perseus into a different space. I do not mean escaping into dreams or into the irrational. I mean I have to change my approach, look at the world from a different perspective, a different logic and methods of cognition and verification. The images of lightness that I seek should not fade like dreams from the reality of the present and the future ... "[Light in Memos. Six Memos for the Next Millennium, 1988].
