Asylum

Asylum is the title of a new exhibition that the Cagliari EXMA hosts from March 31 to April 14 in the exhibition spaces of the Sala delle Volte. The draft Roberta Vanali co-edited with Efisio Carbone, presents the works of 33 artists from all over the country with different backgrounds, with a close stylistic the current one called Art Brut (which originally meant artistic productions of self-taught and of psychiatric patients, or to those who work beyond conventional aesthetic rules) or that indent issues related to mental disorders, and to everything that goes with it to investigate the theme of madness and how the idea of ​​this is variable depending on dell ' scope.
A reflection on mental disorders and personality in the social context and in relation to psychiatric institutions and how they evolved from asylums to TSO. There will be paintings, photographs, installations and videos.
The artists on display: Giuliano Sale, Silvia Argiolas, Andrea Fiorino, Marco Pariani, Adriano Annino, Dario Molinaro, Alessandro Torri, Marta Sesana, HENRY STRONG, Barbara La Ragione, Jacopo Dimastrogiovanni, Daniele Serra, Daniel Santagiuliana, Massimiliano Mattocks, Chiara Seghene, Elisa Desortes, Luigi Bove, Matthew Campulla, Fabiola Ledda, Irene Nurse, Veronica Paretta, Alessandra Baldoni, Giulia Sale, Andrea Guerzoni, Silvia Mei, Roberto Falchi, Carol Rama, SANTISSIMI, Francesco Paolicchi, Hans Krusi, Peter Ghizzardi, Cristian Castelnuovo, Giorgio Dettori.

In addition to the works of the artists in the exhibition, it will be exposed to some documentation on workshops conducted by psychiatric patients.
During the exhibition are planned several events including a series of interviews / talk with the artists, a film festival and a conference.
