11×11th – 3th edition – Official selection

11x11-150x150 A difficult selection the one of 14 artists invited to exhibit their works to the new 3 rd edition of the young 11×11, a project that is growing every year thanks to increasing number of membership. Over 100 students enrolled for a selection of 24 works out of 200 received. This year the exhibition opens its doors to the Sculpture and enters into an alliance with the ODF Association of Thessaloniki (Greece): a group of graduates of the Department of Italian Language and Philology of the University Aristotele (Thessaloniki), with the aim of promoting Italian culture and language in Greece. The selection comes from the analysis of the profiles of the authors and their works, a synthesis of years of study and research. The exhibition offers an insight on visual art, starting from the year ’60 to date. Works by Gualtiero Redivo and Rocco Scattino are due to Arte Povera, literally poor art, in Dino Ventura we have traces of abstract expressionism and pop art that has been assimilated through a long stay in Central America, Cesare Cassone offers an abstract and figurative painting mixed with a conceptual aspect.

Marina Zacharof, Elena Griva, Theo Dacula, Daniela Ferretti with their works point to the need of returning to craft and handcraft works in a modern and contemporary lace, combs, colored glass, recycled materials and Led.
Paola Cabutti work has been made with a classical material such as ceramic in a current representation where through irony and drama tells us about feminine body and psyche. Francesca Zito and Vincent Teriaca play on the displacement of vision. Francesca Sibona Masi object applies a metamorphosis that transforms a product design in an attractive light work of an artist who creates the light with the shadow. Eirini Saridaki has two photographs / graphics works that express themselves with great freshness and timeliness. Silvano Mercuri is an artist that represents the contemporary with his works made of waste materials and which contain concepts, irony and absurdity, in a quite provocative perspective.
