Digital Era
The show "Digital Era" – including 11 artworks digitally realized – represents the solo exhibition of Rachy Kang in Italy.
The very young artist from South Korea has chosen Milan, indeed – the Spazio Raw specifically – and the organization by Anna Mola for her italian show.
All the works was created by computer and revoke, interpreting, several artistic eras of the past. For this reason we chose the title.
Lorenzo Bernini and Leonardo are some of the masters of art history which inspire Kang but references continue and we meet biblical characters as Adam and Eve and Shulamite, the woman loved by Salomon.
Every characters, every situation in these paintings is immersed in a colorful and kaleidoscopic atmosphere, that could causes a feeling of aesthetic pleasantness and harmony, giving a first glance. These sensations are undoubtedly present but the elements that compose the artwork in details call to mind reflections about very important issues and maybe little analyzed in contemporary art: guilt, regret, sin, rebirth. The graphic part also has a big importance: we can often see insertion of texts and symbols that contribute to create the “dystonia” described above between the vivid agreeableness and the deep message inside.
We could say the artistic expression, for Rachy Kang, has a purifying function, something able to transform pain and anxiety into serenity and peace.
In this show are expose the three paintings that compose the series “Paradise”. In these ones the author presents three personal versions of an ancestral and fantastic phase of the Universe. Three points of view: water, air and earth in which the human being is not appeared yet and the nature is in its best majesty and growth.
Short biografy
Rachy Kang is born from South Korea, she is 24 and is studying at the Istituto Marangoni in Milano at the moment. She is member of the Korea Society of Illustration Research. Although the young age she has already participated to several group exhibitions in South Korea, Florence and Milan. In the 2016 she won the Virart gallery summer prize a New York.

Curator: Anna Mola, independent critic and curator, teacher of the history of photography. She creates and collaborates on projects dedicated to contemporary art and photography.
