From Sardinia to London:
In Your Shoes back to London again to support Emergency UK!
In Your Shoes makes its second presentation in London, on 3rd July at 7,00 pm, during “Gino and Giles in conversation”, the convention of Gino Strada and Giles Duley led by Observer editor John Mulholland, about Emergency projects in the World, and it will be held in the Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, 235 Shaftesbury Avenue, WC2H 8EP London. In Your Shoes is a charitable arts project conceived by the Sardinian artist Maria Jole Serreli, in collaboration with Fabio Costantino Macis and Riccardo Giuseppe Mereu.
Will be on show the three works devised with Mario Balotelli, Giuseppe Tornatore and Gino Strada's shoes. The creations are made by Maria Jole Serreli in collaboration with Damjan Komel, Tommaso Pensa and Fabio Costantino Macis. The aim of the exhibition is not only to sensitize but also to sale the creations. The money raised through the artworks donated and sold will be given to the EMERGENCY Paediatric Centre in Bangui, one of the most important Emergency projects worldwide.
The purpose of the project is the funds raising and the promotion of the humanitarian activities of Emergency UK. In order to reach the aim for which In Your Shoes is devised, celebrities, young Italian and international artists are involved. The name of the project, In Your Shoes, is an invitation to put yourself in the shoes of whom suffers because of the wars and of the poverty all over the world, above all children, through a simple action, the donation of a pair of used shoes. In many have answered with enthusiasm: Mario Balotelli, Giuseppe Tornatore, Antonio Marras, Pinuccio Sciola, Fabrizio Pittalis. Soon other names will join to the donations. The project was presented on January 29th 2013, during the Italian Art Festival organised by Nadia Spita at the Vibe Gallery, a London gallery always interested in the most recent developments of international contemporary art.
Artists from Sardinia and not only are involved, on invitation, with the same aim to realize artworks with the donated shoes, with Maria Jole Serreli. So, all works will be “inhabited” by a message of collaboration and brotherhood. It is very important to underline the gratuity of the donations: all the artists have donated their time and engagement, and the realized works, to Emergency UK. All the proceeds will be devolved to the Pediatric Center in Bangui.
