PRESS RELEASE
Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 6:00pm, the Villicana D’Annibale Galleria D’Arte of via Cavour 57 in Arezzo will inaugurate the exhibit of painting by Pasquale Nero Galante, entitled naturALnero. The exposition, curated by Angelo Andriuolo, Francesco Giulio Farachi and Danielle Villicana D’Annibale, will host a selection of recent works by the Salentine painter transplanted in Rome.
The exhibit will continue at free entrance until Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

Pasquale Nero Galante is a contemplative artist. His paintings, fruit of thought and profound vision, are almost deprived of color but brimming with reflection. Landscapes, still lives, portraits in dark veins: all is a variety of a chromatic minimum – black, earth pigments and stained white – transferred onto the support in a complex and personal language.
Between the observer and the work of art, the Brindisine painter, inserts veils to penetrate, because beyond the mere image there is much more than meets the eye.
The subject is not simply painted, but aged – affirms Angelo Andriuolo. – The artist penetrates the essence, crosses the fogs and restores the soul.
There are not places, situations or other presences which can distract the attention from the single protagonist in the painting. In the introspective research of the Apulian, he aims to arrive to the core of the human psyche, unveil the secrets of existence.
In Nero Galante are absorbs life – underlines Francesco Giulio Farachi, – a blend between the illusionistic material and the unreal which is painting, the combination which in itself is a reciprocal mastery of manners, times, nutriments and dynamics.
The portraits, the faces with penetrating expressions, magnetize and surprise the unaware observer. Landscapes and still lives are instead rendered with the knowledge of he who knows how to observe what has been created in its most intimate essence, and thus go to touch the cords of colors which appreciate the decadence of autumn and the nearing of the winter season.
His is a turbulent and concrete art, with multiple layers and meanings, and a distant connection to the works of German artist Anselm Kiefer. This is the case in the dying sunflowers, where the flower produces seeds, and thus a new life, and then dies. The comedy in the tragedy, a paradoxical situation which, making a noble literary parallel, we could define as “Shakespearian.”
Overall in the art of Nero Galante the decadence is only apparent, as it emerges behind the scenes in a metaphorical representation of a life that is all to be lived for, the light which we find stumbling in the dark. A universal message in an era of political and economic crisis as well as values. There will most certainly be a revival, and it probably will happen soon (more than likely much earlier than anticipated).
