PRESS RELEASE
Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at 6:00pm, the Villicana D’Annibale Galleria D’Arte of via Cavour (Arezzo) will inaugurate of the exhibit of painting by Maria Alejandra Sandoval, entitled Flowing. The exposition, curated by Danielle Villicana, will host a selection of paintings and objects painted by the Italian Argentine painter. The exhibit will continue at free entrance until Saturday, July 14, 2012.

Maria Alejandra Sandoval is an artist who began as a figurative painter who then found in nonrepresentational painting her appropriate language.
Lucio Fontana, founded the spatialist movement in the middle of the past century, and twentieth century and demonstrated that even in the field of painting there could exist the three-dimensionality. Following his trail, Maria Alejandra breaks through as well in her work of art, but instead of using the famous Fontanesque cuts, she uses zippers to open and close delicately her canvas, creating her own third dimension, with convincing and unique results.
Beyond spatialism, there are other noble ingredients which combined together make Sandoval’s art distinctive, as the impressionist light adapted to abstraction and a sort of macro-pointillism which is applied in a Pollock gesture. Not to me missed, in some cases, touches of recycled objects, which give artistic dignity to everyday forms.
The paintings of Alejandra are an explosion of vitality and frenetic energy. The works of art gleam, move, quiver, and avoid the rules in the search for liberty.
The artist does not use a large range of colors, rather a selection of pure and vivacious tints with which to express her ideas.
The painting of the Italian Argentine rarely adapts to small dimensions. Instead, they need large surfaces where they may run and do pirouettes in a vertiginous manner, where they can express vital pulses. By way of her canvases, Sandoval opens her heart to the world, unrevealing her most intimate reflections regarding the circularity of life, chaos, pain, but above all love and the joy of life. A luminous art, airy and honest, capable of moving the observer from the first encounter.

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF MARIA ALEJANDRA SANDOVAL
Maria Alejandra Sandoval was born in Argentina in 1962 from a family with Italian origins.
She studied Visual Arts at the Academy of Bahia Blanca (Accademia di Bahia Blanca), and then intensified her studies with Carlos Gorriarena and her sculpture with Emilio Renart in Buenos Aires. In 1985 she moved to Europe, first to Spain and then to Italy, where she still lives today. Besides continuing her activities in painting, the artist is finishing a degree in Education Sciences from the University of Siena.
The Italian Argentine has exhibited in personal and group exhibitions in various parts of the world, bringing the physical space from South America into new latitudes, where for almost thirty years she has sung out her colors and kept her commitment to keep the colors flowing at their fullest potential.
