Exhibitions, Italy, Roma, 07 November 2013
Are exposed to more than 25 oil paintings that portray real people, men, women, adolescents and children, faces more or less known , and distinguished members of aristocratic families together leading figures from business, culture and the media.
The painting of Maria Poggi Cavalletti is clearly not limited to the mere rendering of facial features, but also with careful observation of movements, postures of the body, the movements and gestures, he manages to sound and then to portray the personality and especially the authentic intimacy of the subject.
The artist, who has a long experience of working in the field of fashion design and a subsequent qualification in the field of painting restoration and decoration of rooms, pours in his works a mastery of technique and interpretation that enhances their part in creating a independent and original painting style and use of color free, fast, impressionistic.
As highlighted by the art critic Massimo Rossi Ruben, presentation included in the exhibition catalog: "It is in these portraits of his [...] that meet the specific characteristics of a "portraitisme of yesteryear", where the line of composition, the centrality the sign and the expressive power of color mingle in the figuration to become the third dimension, material and volume. introspective investigation, therefore, that of Poggi Cavalletti, once all'equanime interpretation of the hallmark of their effigies, through the reading of the psychological character, nature and inclinations dream of the soul, on the edge of the narrative of the events and personal stories of each of them [...]."
The elegance, intelligence, the character of the subjects is not common in reality what really affects and stimulates the eyes of the artist.
In the contribution, which is also present in the catalog, the critic Giulio Francesco Farachi, is highlighted as the artistic significance of these portraits, as well as figural in ability, the ability to yield psychological, in the freshness and authenticity of representation of the person portrayed, consists precisely in the "idealization of beauty being that meets and illuminates the features and inner truth.
It means that these paintings do not just bring back the private and personal sphere of the person portrayed, but recreate a slice of the world and of reality that are of this time and of this living space, express an original point of view on the essence unique, singular, for each peculiar humanity."
