The Shape of Light
ROCCA SAN GIORGIO - ORZINUOVI (BS)
Giuseppe Zumbolo
As if the light had its own form separated from matter.
Interesting topic worthy of study.
It would seem that the phase of the art of painting and the light, from Caravaggio to Fontana, is fully accomplished. Of course not, because the art of painting is not mere philosophy but abbisogna support, material and a good deal of manual work, implicit in the concept of the artist.
The search for Cristina Simeoni, fits into this context of advancement in its own right. For both the constant commitment, motivated by pure passion demonstrated over many years, that the desire for consistency and depth. In the early days, when I met her several years ago, I was able to appreciate its urban landscapes, almost metaphysical. But already half-sensed that his real search was on for the light, the absolute protagonist of his work ever since. The light invaded the houses, roads, water exiting the lighted windows, trajectories traced by the street lamps turned on.
Now, in his artistic maturity, the Simeoni, constantly aiming to synthesis, as it should be, almost leaves, the object-subject pretext "to represent the light itself, with its own shape, separated from matter that lights up.
This gives, to his latest creations, a purely abstract connotation. It's not just virtual game of synchrony and balance of forms in space, but a search that comes from the soul and comes from the desire to convey a feeling of purity through the color. I am also convinced that the artist is still in the making and aspires to a total freedom in the representational space, further reducing the geometry of the shapes. I assume its spaces become increasingly large and intact, the balance more and more relaxed. It's also nice to note, as his palette is enriched, rediscovering the blues and blue. Colors that expand the space.
Born in Mantua in 1974, Cristina Simeoni started painting very young. After the first one, in 2002, he began a long and successful exhibition season, still in progress which led her to exhibit in quite prestigious. Recently, the presence at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Brescia and ever this year, was one of the thirteen finalists selected from all over Europe to participate in the International Exhibition linked to the prize Comel based in Latin America. In a new program in 2014 staff in the city of Cremona.
