"With deepening contemplations and wondering how far art can go beyond “the surface,” I've seen a lot of artists who are quite simply, too thin. Their music, their art, and/or their literature only goes so far, with small scrapings on that barely even scratched “surface.” When it comes to this kind of art, there is no mystery, there is no wonder, there is no pain, and there is no joy. It's all a haze and a watered down narcissism, and how much more mundane can you get? With life and people already being such an enigma, shouldn't there be the same darkened allure that comes from them into our artwork?

Swoon's latest album “Words / No Words” is just that – the allure, the magic, and all the sounds that can never be quite described with words confined into a language. The music of Swoon runs as a parallel line beside curiosity and intrigue on a plane of undiscovered emotion. Within each track title, there is a parenthetical dedication and within each dedication is a combination of noises, effects, and wonderfully obscured soundscapes – which all are constructed through more practicality than just the music in and of itself. In speaking about the music, Marc Neys, (the creator of Swoon,) states “Almost all of my soundscapes are made for video or end up in a video.” The videos and the sounds of Swoon go hand-in-hand. The videos are just as abstract as the songs and the songs are just as audibly stimulating as the videos are visually unique. Using 'words' as an important aspect for what fruitions of creativity that comes about, Swoon's “Words / No Words” is at the forefront in making a deepening complex for how music should sound in moving beyond the surface."
