2nd International Contemporary Art Fair Thessaloniki
23 – 26 November 2017
Booths 10, 9 & 8 of T.I.F. HELEXPO
After the first successful organization and the vote of confidence of its roughly 12 thousand visitors, the 2nd edition of Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair is now ready to open its gates once more, at Booths 10, 9 & 8 of T.I.F. Helexpo, from 23 to 26 November 2017.
This is an Art Fair co-organized by the National Agency for the Organization of Exhibitions, Congresses and Cultural Events (HELEXPO S.A) and the artistic director Pantelis Tsatsis.
The Art Fair invests in the strategically important geographic location of Thessaloniki, its multicultural identity, as well as its rich and long history, which spans over 2300 years. The city took its name from the celebration of the victory (niki) of Filippo’s army, the Macedonian King and father of Alexander the Great, over the Thessalians, a neighboring tribe. An important metropolis during the Roman period, Thessaloniki was the second largest city of the Byzantine Empire. Thessaloniki is home to numerous notable Byzantine monuments, several Roman Ottoman and Israeli structures. Moreover, it is situated near many sites of natural and historical importance, such as the worldwide known Mount Athos and its Monasteries, Mount Olympus, the alleged habitat of the ancient Greek Gods, Vergina Archeological Museum (Royal Tombs) and Amphipolis archaeological site.
Thessaloniki, a city of over 1 million inhabitants, with excellent hotel facilities, a good transportation system and a next to zero crime rate, is a popular tourist destination in Greece and renowned for its festivals and vibrant cultural life in general. It is considered to be Greece's cultural capital. Events such as the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival are held annually.
Under the auspices of the Ministries of Culture and Macedonia-Thrace, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and the close cooperation of many institutions of the city with the exhibition, be prepared for one of the most important artistic events that will take place in the country. Art-Thessaloniki 2017 boasts China as the honored country and an elaborate parallel program, that includes:
• Honored artists Kostas Tsoklis from Greece and the German Volf Vostell curated by Sania Papa.
• The Museum Exhibitions:
◦ Z.P. collection by Theodoros Stamos, curated by Manos Stefanidis.
◦ “ Balancing Acts: design and implementation: The inevitable fuzziness or the readjustment of origin”, curated by Emmanouil Mavrommatis
◦ International Contemporary Engraving, Georgios Kitis Collection, curated by Sania Papa.

as well as many more original events that await to welcome many visitors, collectors, buyers and Galleries from Greece, Europe, Japan, Israel, Turkey, China, Russia, the Balkan Countries, and the USA, that will participate and visit.
After our contact with the Art Director of Thessaloniki’s International Film Festival, Mr. Orestis Andreadakis, we initiated our collaboration and we are planning a series of joint events.Within the framework of the Greek-Chinese Project, the joint art exhibition between Dimostenis Davvetas and the Chinese Liang Yi , will be hosted in the Open Art Lab ‘s spaces, reinforcing the fruitful dialogue between Hellenism and Buddhism , curated by Zhou Yang.In 1997 Thessaloniki was cultural capital of Europe, and in 2014 Youth Capital of Europe. In 2010, Lonely Planet ranked Thessaloniki as the world's fifth-best party city worldwide, comparable to other cities such as Dubai and Montreal. For 2013 National Geographic Magazine included Thessaloniki not only as a top tourist destination worldwide, but also as a European capital of an ideal size regarding human capital and lifestyle.
The 2nd rendition of Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair is organized in a city with a global orientation , open to fresh ideas, hospitable and safe, with unique elements of localization and an exquisite local gastronomy.
We kindly invite you to participate in the 2nd rendition of Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary
