The Foundation Mazzullo promotes Taormina an important contemporary art event with the exhibition The Group of Scicli. The masters of the group, founded and led by Piero Guccione: Sonia Alvarez, Carmelo Candiano, Giuseppe Colombo, Salvatore Paolino, Franco Polizzi, Joseph Puglisi, Sarnari Franco, Peter Zuccaro exhibiting 45 works that represent their latest artistic production. Large canvases and sculptures are integrated with the charming fourteenth-century halls and gardens of the Palace of the Dukes of Santo Stefano. That the exhibition of Sonia Alvarez, Carmelo Candiano, Giuseppe Colombo, Piero Guccione, Salvatore Paolino, Franco Polizzi, Joseph Puglisi, Franco Sarnari and Peter Zuccaro, - in the words of Lucio Barbera - for the first time with Palace of the Dukes of Santo Stephen, the Fondazione Mazzullo, not a "personal", is evident. A look at the works, however, may seem like a "collective", as each artist, not only has its own distinctive identity and well, but carries its own unique address, motivational, stylistic and expressive. From the discrepancy between what "seems" (a group) and what "is" (a solo), I want to build on, groped for to say what "is".The Scicli Group is a group of artists who for various reasons trajectories and began dating motivated by common interests in painting and sculpture, and at the same time, available to participate in the processes of cultural entertainment in the city with some friends who had created the Cultural Movement Vitaliano Brancati.Sicilian ... if it is true that these are landscapes, these seas, this light and these stones, for nothing is the Sicilian "resistance" of the "Scicli Group". But rather it is a sign of rebellion and poetic, and persuasive, planted in Sicily, on the international scene that suggests that once, for other reasons, Henry Crispolti called a '"alternative present".
