“StARTers – Assaggi d'arte”: presentation with Francesco Oliveto
Lectures, Italy, Siena, 08 October 2013
Francesco Oliveto's presentation at the Siena Art Institute (via Tommaso Pendola, 37, Siena) will focus on the new aesthetics of computer science combined with music and its implications for composing--exactly thirty years after the advent of digital music events. After a brief overview of past methods of composing, Oliveto will give live examples of the capacity of synthesizing, sequencing and editing sounds using current software.
Francesco Oliveto started his musical studies as a child at the Rinaldo Franci Advanced Institute of Music of Siena with courses in violin and piano. He continued his studies in composition under the tutelage of Maestro Antonio Anichini and master composers Claudio Boncopagni and Francesco Rizzi from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. For around fifteen years Oliveto has been interested in the intersection of computer science and music, which has led him to teaching in various schools, conservatories and to collaborating on projects with the department of Communication Sciences of the University of Siena. He has composed soundtracks for several important documentaries as well as artistic performances.
