Artist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera, Nicoletta Braga will illustrate to the "StARTers" public her artistic research centered on the connections between body and sign in individual and collective relationships, with particular interest in the female condition and the phenomena of social mobilization. After studying Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence and Enhancement in the Department of Architecture at Roma Tre University in the project "Art Architecture Territory," she got her Master in Communication and Non-verbal Languages at the University Ca Foscari of Venice. She has appeared in various exhibitions, both personal and collective, some of them with the research group com.plot S.Y.S.tem.
Among the most recent projects that she has lead and which will be at the center of her presentation at "StARTers" are "Saluti dall’inferno (San Vittore 1943 – 2013),” an installation and performance created in the San Vittore prison of Milan on January 27, 2013, for the occasion of the Day of Memory, an intervention that seeks to translate into the specific language of art that view of the world so full of fear, anger, anguish, desolation, solitude of those who even for an instant are deprived of freedom; "Global Project - frame 3," a performance which was held in the gallery Amy-d in Milan on January 27, 2012 and which, again in the sphere of the Day of Memory, proposes a reflection on our times, on globalization, on the banking system, on women: lastly "Germinal," an installation made up of three parts - a video, a painting and an action - with which Braga participated in the exhibition "Prospectus," organized in the environment of "Nero," the seventh edition of Cantieri d'Arte in Viterbo (October 7-14, 2012).
As of 1999 Nicoletta Braga teaches Phenomenology of the Body in the 2-year specialization in Theory and Practice of Artistic Therapy at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera.
