Satoko has a deep connection to Siena artistically and academically. In 1996 she established a study abroad program through the University of Oregon and served as the director of the program until 2005. Her experience in the land of Le Crete has been one of the greatest inspirations in her art and remains as one of the most significant artistic sources for her.
Currently, she teaches studio art courses at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon as a full-time faculty member, and also teaches a media course in the Kyoto Program which is offered through the Landscape Architecture Department at the University of Oregon.
Her artistic, cultural and emotional ties to Japan remains very solid, and her current artistic inquiry has a lot to do with Japanese artistic and philosophical tradition. Her recent attempt in the use of ink and Japanese hand-made paper is a reflection of her interest in her Japanese heritage.
