Laurie Fendrich and Peter Plagens: Discussing Each Others' Work
American painter, Laurie Fendrich, visiting artist at the Siena Art Institute for the month of June, is accompanied by her husband, artist and art critic Peter Plagens. Having been married for 30 years, they know each other's work like no one else possibly could, and came up with the idea to take part together in our StARTers lectures series, giving an unusual and challenging talk where they will share with the audience their familiarity and intution about each other's art.
Laurie Fendrich is an American painter and a professor of fine arts at Hofstra University She has an extensive exhibition history including countless group and solo shows and a 2011 retrospective exhibition "Sense and Sensation" organized by the Williamson Art Gallery at Scripps College and also exhibited at the Montana Museum of Art and Culture. Peter Plagens is an American painter and art critic. He has written for Art in America, served as a writer and contributing editor to Newsweek magazine, and served as contributing editor for Artforum magazine. Peter's artwork has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions and his artworks are in many private and public collections including the Hirshorn Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
