Culture shock may bring out the best as well as the worst in human society.
A shock can help create life, beauty and love just as it can destroy everything. Similarly anger, violence and hate can result from a shock.
A shock can shatter the conscience of individuals or entire groups, or allow the opposite, resignation, to appear.
What is seen as normal and obvious in one part of the world can provoke in another and lead to dramatic reactions.
Current events and history are full of obvious examples. These can be found in the many various religions as well as in politics, customs and practices and in the arts, in short in national cultures.
*(The concept of Culture shock describes the shocked emotional condition into which men can fall if they encounter a strange culture. The concept was introduced by Cora DuBois)
