PAC Ferrara

The group exhibition The Art of Craft - Here we are. The place is always special presents the results of the workshop held at the Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea (PAC) of Ferrara, in July 2010, with the teaching of the joint group ZimmerFrei, artists, tutors, and Martina Angelotti. The authors have designed and created works in close dialogue with the city and the exhibition space. Exposure is the key moment of the three-year course for young artists in the Emilia-Romagna "The Craft of Art" (2008-2011), an initiative advanced pilot training in contemporary arts. The project is based on the priority aspects of professional practice: in the sphere of construction and communication of the work as in the employment context, relational, economic craft artist. A first phase (2008-2009), dedicated to the knowledge of current work, took place through a program of meetings with various figures that represent the roles and its own institutions of the art system. Below (2009-2010) has developed a series of internships and apprenticeship in which students have actually acted alongside established suppliers, within the realities of the system: from artists, museums, private galleries companies and artistic and cultural production. This exhibition is located in program synthesis and implemented as part of the training, the development involves the construction of the final exhibitions of students and publication of a full documentary on the conduct of the course.
The project "The Craft of Art" is included nell'APQ GECO, signed between the Ministry of Youth and the Emilia-Romagna, and is implemented by the Young Artists of Emilia-Romagna (GA / ER), the City of Ferrara - Department of Culture, Tourism and Youth, and the Provincial Training Consortium - Ferrara (CPF).

Here we are. The place is always specific, it speaks of an "us, where we are or where we were, what we have seen, heard, processed. In a place that is always special because it has its own animal energy, which ranges from the imaginary town of the city and what each of us is built in, although not always originate in the place. Specific in details, characters, stories and histories that have given rise to interpretations that are not always functional or derived from logical processes, but often escaped the control of rationality. Represent the reality does not mean repainting in its entirety, or designate specific aspects, in this case means phagocytosis and internalize it as part of a whole. The peculiarity lies in the selection of fragments, cracks open up what is known there, as if he peeped through the keyhole of a lock. A reality that gives us a more specific place, because it's always been such, and only through observation and the vision was revealed to our eyes. It's the sensational aspect of a relationship, that each artist has constructed fragments, scenes and landscapes of this city. This particular place has become their home, dismantled and disconnected to the ground, open and closed in possible new visions. Walking in here becomes a natural gesture. Walking between rooms, objects, finds that the artists have collected, disclosing and auscultation in and around the space. It is a fluid path that runs along a curved line, which is contracted in the rooms downstairs to go back upstairs, without interruption of exposure. A path that puts the works, one inside the other, not to lose sight of even one segment, directing our gaze to size varied, imaginative, historical, scientific, chronicle. Here We Are is a story that alternates between individual and collective experiences born and raised in places and at different times: beyond the walls of the city, next to a canal, in the corridors of a hospital, one of the abandoned land vague and exit from the center . The artists who are represented fourteen different languages and come from areas between them, some are young, and what they have tried to do here, the place was regarded as part of the work. Physical place, perceived manifest and place, register as a lived experience. The outside and inside the concrete walls that surround the space. This particular space. (Martina Angelotti)
