UnTubo Art is pleased to present Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 19:00 onwards "THE NUMBER OF CENTERS" the exhibition of Maurizio Vicerè (Teramo, 1985).
Maurizio Vicerè, aka VICE, is a visual artist multifaceted, cross and instinctively naive. Fascinated by masters of contemporary thought as R. Barthes, M. McLuhan, Walter Benjamin and artists belonging to the current conceptual and Arte Povera such Boetti A. and G. De Domicinis, Vice, soon abandons trends markedly eclectic pop and order to start an intensive solo and site-specific projects (2007/2010).
In research that Vice continues from 2010 you can detect some constants as the game and the popular element to be considered as the only possible interpretations of a specific procedural and gestural signs. In "THE NUMBER OF CENTERS artist works on relations man / space / time. It opens the exhibition" Reminder "(2014), a circle ink obtained through the obsessive repetition of the geometric figure drawn in pen tip bic freehand many circles on the paper how many days, hours, minutes spent in the expectation of a change, a '"Waiting" operating filled with gestures and signs only partially controlled but implicitly imperfect as they may be a simulation or a game precisely.
The small sculpture of clay "Mnemone. (Keeper of the collective memory (1000 BC - 323 BC.)" (2013) is the effigy of the man who points out, the one who does not forget. In Greek mythology, the Mnemone is attributed to a specific figure of waiting for some hero, invested with specific tasks mnemonic, consisting of the need to bring to the memory of his client, at crucial moments, some need higher or divine, whose forgetfulness can bring misfortune or even cause death. In the works Vice there is always the desire to bring together concepts apparentementi opposites as might be the sacred and the profane, the useful and the delectable, intuitive ability and objective impossibility, a leitmotive that we can find in works such as "With my bare hands "(2014) in quli the artist literally tries to grab the sky with the cast in PVA glue of the palm of his hands. The exhibition ends with a series of works entitled" Otium "(2014-2015), a myriad of pieces of puzzle completions whites or blacks where every ricostruizione is beyond our dreams because virtually impossible: still a game, or rather what remains of a grueling game and unproductive as it is the life of one who does not "see" because it "looks" only, and it is no coincidence that in all languages of the world there are two verbs (look and see) that perfectly distinguish the different traits and the implications of the knowledge of things but even more the psychological attitude to what may seem apparently the same action.
