CHASE
Exhibitions, Italy, Caserta , Aversa, 01 June 2012
Through the idea of sale, and its attached meanings, the artist focuses a complex path, linked to both the video that the painting, in a study of internal references trying to highlight the nodes of his research about the social topic developed during the last few years. The work of Dario Madonna, Chase, from which the exhibition takes its name, was presented firstly in the church of Santa Maria del Popolo in Aversa and, later, in the church of Sant’Elena in Caserta. Chase is the name of a famous American bank (Chase Manhattan Bank), even if the interpretation of the term extends to other fields, for what concerns both the translation of the work itself and the interpretative concept. The term Chase means hunt, a chase that hides an absolutely unconscious everyday reality to the collective imagination.
The video is structured to let the viewer be absorbed in a synthetic reality, without a narrator, and without objects or subjects on which he could dwell; there are only actions. So, a poetry and a logic that come to point out some subversive figures (images) of a human eye that is superficial and unfocused, sometimes blinded, yet hyper-sighted, as the ineffable invisibility of the reality destabilizes and bring it down.
Chase is a daily story, it’s a swelling of all you can see. The sale in its concept includes several activities such as the pomposity of vital elements: water. The work is almost a story of lives that could not be seen, living within the work, we, the men, in a corruptive way, emphasize, through disguised voices, a daily braid of information and actions.
