The Good / Evil couple was one of the drivers of the development of culture and thought in every society, also creating a definition of things. But the existence of evil and the encounter with it is perturbing, because it alludes to the existence of a deep area of man that is charged with aggression, almost necessary destructiveness.
Absolute evil is when the basic identity, humanity, the other is rejected as if it were only a thing between things, as in the absolute evil of the Holocaust. Even in violent aggression against a victim there is a form of recognition and identification with the other.
The reason for being evil, - writes Andree Green, is to proclaim that anything exists does not make any sense, does not obey any order, has no purpose, it depends only on the strength it can exercise to impose its will on the objects of their appetites "
Sigmund Freud wrote that "the man extends evil to the outside so as not to be killed by it, and comes to kill, we might say, so as not to kill himself; for the ultimate desire not to die "
Psychoanalysis has dealt with this disturbing area trying to go back to the internal drive thrusts that seem to be inhabited only by destructiveness and even by a malignant instance, which tend to move away from any conscious thought or possible elaboration, they live in internal places sometimes manifesting forcefully sometimes remaining silent. It is as if there is a short circuit of thought and every internal thrust must be acted to fill an impossibility to be other and above all to destroy anything felt as an obstacle to the expanding of this violent energy both in a symbolic and also concrete sense.
