Thinking through images. Psychoanalysis and photography Ignazio Cannas, Matteo De Simone, Francesca Tilio-ITALIAN ASSOCIATION OF PSYCHOANALYSIS / AIPSI vIa of priscilla 128 Rome
Lectures, Italy, Roma, 28 January 2018
Francesca Tilio guest of the Italian Association of Psychoanalysis to talk about "thinking by images", psychoanalysis and photography. With Ignazio Cannas, a trained psychoanalyst, and Matteo De Simone, an ordinary psychoanalyst.
Photography and psychoanalysis have an intimate relationship, sometimes they use the same tools: the permeability to sensations, the interest in details, the ability to have visions that propose reality in a new and original way, the ability to feel empathy with the situation. Looking with your own eyes requires, both in art and in life, an act of imagination, because perceptions are never totalizing but fragmentary and therefore must be integrated by creative imagination.

Francesca Tilio was born in Jesi in 1975. Photographer, graphic designer and performer, in 2017 she wrote and directed her first theatrical show About Tom Waits. In 2009 he exhibited at the Viewfinder Photo Gallery in London with the solo exhibition Les Bonnes (series inspired by Genet's homonymous theater opera). In 2010 a prestigious jury decreed the winner of the Camera d'Oro award at Lens Based Art Show in Turin with the project of self-portraits ME² and the performance with wigs for women only. In 2013 he made his debut with the Pink Project, his most personal work, talking about the great Italian newspapers. Pink Project supports the pink ribbon campaign of LILT 2014 (Italian League Against Cancer) and is a traveling exhibition for fundraising for the fight against breast cancer. In 2015 he released his first book for Habanero editions, The females are odd numbers, 9 stories x 9 pieces of music x 9 photographs taken by her. Gipsytudine is his new blog and an exhibition.
